About McDermott’s
McDermott’s was founded in 2022 as a business to sell mechanical models and other things of interest either made in house, restored by us, or given to us for sale. We also sell models of ships, all made in house from pine.
Why are we called McDermott’s of Liverpool?
Although we are based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the vast majority of the founders family is from Liverpool and the name was taken as a gesture to the rich heritage of Liverpool in watch and model making.
About the Founder
I’m whats termed a mechanician, which basically means I make mechanical objects look good doing whatever it is they do. My main line of work started out as a hobby, which was a restoring antique model locomotives, of which I’ve done several, covering everything from Live Steam to Electricity. Now I primarily built my own components for them using watchmaker methods, so they are more akin to a watch than a locomotive in terms of finish. I’m also the only person in the world who works on Bassett Lowke/Bing clockwork mechanisms. I often work on stationary live steam engines as well, and very rarely pocket watches. Anything elderly and metal I can probably fix, so if you have something that needs fixing drop me an email.

Commissions
